Lauren Johnson and Rebecca Brown

Laura Johnson is one among others who have yet to be diagnosed for whatever it is causing them to continuously sneeze. This must have a pretty big impact on her life. Almost like my first story of the man who couldn't stop hiccupping, Laura must get annoyed by the sneezing, although she says she's used to it. It also most likely has an effect on her social life. Peers may look at her differently and think she's sick and whatnot. Also, kids that may be clean freaks, or just always have antibacterial with them.. you know the kind of people I'm talking about.. well, they may not like the person because he/she is always sneezing. In otherwords, these people would have pretty hard social lives, however, I'm sure they make the best out of their lives, and I am proud of them for their strength to overcome their conditions and make the best out of it all.






Now, I don't expect you to watch the entire video, but I'm sure I'd help you understand trichotillomanio patients. Rebecca Brown is a strong girl. She is constantly trying to overcome her disorder. Many people who suffer from this disease can't find a cure. Not only do people just pick out their hair from their head, but some pull out hair from their eyebrows, or even eyelashes. I wish there was some way I could help them. Many people also end up getting wigs to try and hide from themselves and how bad they feel. After watching a few videos about other people who suffer from this disease, I found one where a lady was overcoming trich, and she was almost back to normal. What she did was shave her head. She believed if for whatever the reason the body had to pull hair out to get what it wanted, if there was no hair to pull out.. then the body would find a new way to get what it wanted. Some people try and undergo hypnosis even. This disorder is classified as a obsessive cumpulsive disorder. I hope that people who come in contact with a person suffering from trich, don't look down upon them, I hope they will support them and give them hope.

Isabelle Dinoire

"Isabelle Dinoire is a French woman who was mauled by a Labrador dog after she had overdosed on sleeping pills in May of 2005. While she was passed out, Tania - the dog Isabelle Dinoire loved so much came to her and stared scratching and chewing on her face. There are speculations that the dog got frantic after seeing her master unresponsive and was possibly trying to wake her. After she was mauled, Isabelle Dinoire was left without lips, with part of her nose, chin and cheeks missing."

"AMIENS, France - The Frenchwoman who received the world's first partial face transplant showed off her new features to the public Monday, saying in a heavily slurred voice that she now looks "like everyone else" and hopes to resume a normal life.

Isabelle Dinoire's speech was difficult to understand, but she explained how she was disfigured by a dog bite last year, and she thanked the family of the brain-dead female donor who gave her new lips, a chin and nose.

A fine, circular scar was still visible where the face tissue was attached in the 15-hour operation in Amiens on Nov. 27."

This story is truely incredible. It makes you become aware of the things that happen to people. I'm sure Isabelle never expected something like this to happen to her. Nobody expects the worst to happen to them. Isabelle's life will never be the same. I'm just glad she did get her life back. I'm curious as to the parents of the young face donor.. I wonder if they gladly gave her their baby's face because then they could still see a part of their daughter in Isabelle, or if they just wanted to do it for the sake of being good people. Maybe they didn't want to to begin with because they didn't want to see the bottom portion of their daughter's face on someone else's face. Either way, these people made Isabelle feel special. They made her feel human again. They gave Isabelle life.

Some people may view her as different, in a bad way. They may look down upon her. They may think she's "ugly". People can be very cruel, but you must keep in mind that Isabelle was just like you or I. She just happened to accidently overdose on sleeping pills, and her dog attacked. This was not her fault, this was not anyone's fault. This is almost like a hit-and-run.. someone at the wrong spot at the wrong time. Isabelle was a miracle. It was a miracle she lived, it is a miracle that she was able to regain a face. Isabelle is a very lucky woman.

Lint and Gag?

"The most non-emergent ER visit: A male adolescent came in at 2 a.m. with a complaint of belly button lint."
One word... wow.

"A 19-year old female was asked why she was in the ER. She said that she and her boyfriend were having sex and the condom came off and she wasn't able to retrieve it with her fingers. I went to the bathroom and "gagged" myself to vomit but couldn't vomit it up either."

I found this halarious.

Theres not much to say about these two, I thought I'd just share a couple more funny ones.

*****NOTE* Loraina Bobbit was a woman who had been raped by her husband and several years later got up in the middle of the night and had noticed a carving knife on the counter and remembered about the difficulties in their relationship, grabbed the knife and went in her room with her husband and preceded to chop off half of his genitalia which he then had to get sewn back on*****



"A man in his mid-fifties did a Loraina Bobbit on himself in a drunken rage and ended up in the ER. The urologist thought that he could reattach the mans genitalia if it could be recovered and if it was in good condition. The police were dispatched to the man's house and the search was on. During the search one of the officers heard a choking sound coming from the man's poodle that was sitting in the corner. After a brief fight the officer was able to retrieve the man's jewels from the dog's mouth. After inspection of the parts by the urologist it was decided that the man would need to be taught to pee while sitting (if you know what I mean). The officer was given a commendation from his precinct for medical assistance."



Once again.. an issue that had occured while drinking.. As painful as this story is.. I find it humorous. I'm sure his family and friends also do, but not his wife/girlfriend. I'm curious as to why he decided to do this. And I don't really have anything else to say about this story.


"A doctor who spoke limited Spanish was rushed to a car in the ER parking lot to find a Spanish woman in the process of giving birth. Wanting to tell the woman to push he started yelling "Puta! Puta! Puta!" At this the grandmother started to cry and the baby's father had to be restrained. What the doctor should have been saying was "Puja!" (Push!) Instead he was saying "Whore! Whore! Whore!""



Well, I guess that word was the one that stuck out in his mind.. As for the Spanish woman and her family, if it were me, I would deffinately be angry.


"An elderly woman came into the ER complaining: "I got the green vines in my virginny" (Interesting). A pelvic exam verifies that she did, indeed, have a six inch vine growing out of her vagina. Further inspection revealed that she had a mass in her vaginal vault. It was easily removed and looked very much like a potato. It was, indeed, a potato. The patient said that her uterus was falling out and that she "put a potato in there to hold it up" and then forgot about it."

Do uterus's normally fall out? Can they fall out? Well,
"A vaginal prolapse is a condition in which structures such as the uterus, rectum, bladder, urethra, small bowel, or the vagina itself may begin to prolapse, or fall, out of their normal positions. Without medical treatment or surgery, these structures may eventually prolapse farther and farther into the vagina or even through the vaginal opening if their supports weaken enough. Why someone would stick a potato up there... you got me. And forgetting about it? Got me again.. However, this could have been very dangerous because like the other story from yesterday.. it may have caused a reaction because the body doesn't know what it is. Hopefully this woman is okay, however she may have been afflicted with some side effects.

Attempted Suicide and Chicken Baby

I once again apologize about the lack of stories posted. I once again have been busy, and lately have been at the hospital visiting my grandpa who was taken to the ER there by ambulance, otherwise I would be on here more. So, I'm sorry.
Now, tonight and for the next few days, I'm going to write about some ER stories that are more on the funny side, and note that these people probably have mental illnesses/have been drinking. Enjoy.

"A 28-year old male was brought into the ER after an attempted suicide. The man had swallowed several nitroglycerin pills and a fifth of vodka. When asked about the bruises about his head and chest he said that they were from him ramming himself into the wall in an attempt to make the nitroglycerin explode."

Well, I'm sure this gave the ER some laughs, along with concern. This man had obviously been drinking, but he had actually attempted suicide. I'm sure this was very hard for his family to hear. As much as you'd want to give this man the benefit of the doubt, because of how either dumb or drunk he was with ramming himself into the wall to make the pills explode.. he had actually tried to kill himself. I bet him and his family look back on it now and laugh, but are glad he wasnt killed.

"A 50-year old woman came into the ER with a complaint of mild abdominal pain. During a pelvic exam the doctor found that the lady had inserted a whole chicken piece by piece into her vagina and then safety-pinned her labia shut. Unable to have children she was hoping that the chicken would turn into a baby."

I'm at a loss of words. This lady MUST have been mentally ill. How... I don't even know about this.. Chickens.. they're so BIG! How.... and safety-pinned it... didn't that HURT?! Expecting it to turn into a baby even..?? Well, besides the obvious.. this could have actually been a bad outcome. Whether it was or not, I'm not sure. But considering there was an object inside of her that wasn't supposed to be there.. her body could have rejected it and could have became very sick. Either way, when she was back to "normal", I'm hoping she got some mental treatment of some sort, or being fifty.. I'm not sure if she were old enough to go to a "home" but, something like that.

Abortion Survivor

This is a story about Claire.

"Claire Culwell met her biological mother in March of 2009. She told her that her life is a miracle. Claire's biological mom became pregnant with her at the age of 13. Her mother took her to an abortion clinic where she had a surgical abortion. A few weeks later she realized she was still pregnant so she found an out-of-state late-term abortion clinic to do a second abortion. At the clinic they told her she had been pregnant with twins..ONE WAS ABORTED; ONE SURVIVED. They said it was too late to do a second abortion...Claire was born 2 weeks later.Claire was born 2 1/2 months early. She weighed 3 lbs 2 oz, she was on life support, her hips were dislocated and her feet were turned in...all because of the abortion. She was adopted when she was released from the hospital at 2 1/2 months old by an amazing family.Claire's life is a miracle! God obviously wanted her here. Claire now tells her story and speaks up for the unborn so that they can have the same gift of LIFE that she has!"

I think this is an amazing story. It really makes you think twice about the options everyone has when pregnant. How do you think the biological mother of Claire's felt once she saw concieved the baby she had tried to "get rid of"? I'm curious to know if she has ever regret doing it. I had once read, "Abortion doesn't make you un-pregnant, it makes you the mom of a dead baby". I completely agree with this. I don't understand how one could actually go through with abortion, knowing that they are killing their own child. That the masterpiece they created, they are getting rid of, that they are killing. How could one go through with something like this? And to know Claire's mom not only went the first time to try to kill the baby(ies). But when she found out one had still been alive, she went back for a second time. How could someone go through something like this not only once.. but twice?? I wish mothers could realise what they are really doing..

So.. I am sincerly sorry that I haven't posted in a while! Like I said before, I've been really busy, I try and pack a few boxes every night, and sometimes I don't even have time for that. I will try harder to make this one of my first priorities.

Trisomy 18

I really apologize for not uploading lately, I have been very busy with school and projects, also having to pack to move. Anyways, I don't want to make this tooo long, but I wanted to talk about a couple stories I read earlier in the year while doing a project.

I found a website with different stories about babies born with Trisomy 18, one/two story(ies) that really stuck out in my mind were a story about two sisters, both born with Trisomy 18. When Trisomy 18 is diagnosed, doctors will tell the parents that the baby probably won't make it past 24 hours. The first sister born in this family was Rachel. When her parents found out she had Trisomy 18, the doctors told her "why bother surgery because the outcome is fixed." Her parents then said "BECAUSE SHE'S NOT DEAD YET AND BECAUSE SHE MIGHT LIVE!" This is very true, you can't just give up. When this story was written, Rachel was to be turning 4 in April. When her sister Reagan, was born, her parents yet again found out their child was diagnosed with Trisomy 18. The sisters parents never gave up on either one of them, but three days after Reagan was born, she died.

Now that you know they're stories, how will you feel the next time you see someone with a condition that isn't "normal"? Would you look at them the same way you may have before you read these stories? I know I haven't, every time I see someone that has a condition like Rachel and Reagans, and many others, I feel sorry for them. Not in a bad way, but I wish there could be something I could do for them. I feel the pain that the child's parents go through everyday, not knowing if it could possibly be their child's last. I'm sure the parents love their children just as if you or I were their child. Not more, not less, they just go through more. I hope one day I could get the chance to be very close with someone like this, to show them that it doesn't matter how you look, or if your sick, or whatever it is. You always have friends by your side.

I had cancer at a very young age, and my friends were there for me, along with my family and teachers. They were what have made my life so great. I love speaking to other people about what sets them aside, stories such as these ones, share some with me, I'd love to hear them : )
